Assuming people are still watching this journal....

I know some of you are going to DragonCon. Mostly because I've made tentative arrangements to meet people there, but it might be fun to have an RS meetup for old times' sake.

Is anyone else interested and more importantly, who is going?

Life's gotten pretty hectic for me lately, and it's promising to get even more so. This means reevaluating my RP time and, unfortunately, dropping some of my games. relativespace is one of the ones I have to drop. Should plot pick back up, there's no way I could promise to have the time or brainpower to contribute fully. So, though I've had an absolute blast here, it's time for me to go and take thentherewas8 and goodathart with me.

I've had a lot of fun, and wish the game and everyone in it the best.

Sorry guys, but I'll be dropping playing Fitz at this RPG. I've had some fun times here, and I've met really cool people, and I know Sam's trying to get plot stuff together, but it all seems sort of dead, to me. I'll miss you guys, and I hope you have fun plotty things in the future, but I'm gonna be meandering around big bad LJ on my own, I fear.

So, dropping literaryloser. See you guys around.

As much as I love the complex backstory I came up for my AU Sarah, I lost track of the details and found myself writing her into a corner. So, with our gracious mod's permission, Sarah's shifted AUs to the Big Finish Audiobooks and her entry point will be right after the disaster on the Dauntless. Hopefully this will keep her from getting bogged down again.

Potted history will show up on the wiki and in her journal at some point during the next week.

Hi everyone.

First things first, thank you to everyone that voted for RS in the Arpea awards. It's an honor that there are people out there still thinking of and loving the community, despite my total lack of decent moderating. I think that's just proof how awesome you, the players/writers are here. So congrats to you guys.

Secondly, that whole "lack of decent moderating" is going to go. I sort of got distracted by shinies and lost sight of my modly responsibilities. I plan to change that. Still, it's not going to happen overnight. I'm slowly going to go through and figure some things out, rearrange a few things, chat with players, and work things out.

To get started, I need to know who's still in and who's not interested anymore. That's it. Just reply here and tell me in or out (of, if you don't feel comfortable doing it publicly, you can email or IM me). This isn't a REPLY NOW OR DIE thing. Just within the next month (by January 1st) let me know one way or the other. That's it.

Just to give you an idea on what I'm thinking about changing, so you can comment and give suggestions if you're interested:

The organization/tags system. It's too complicated. I tried this system in the hopes of making things simpler, but I don't think it worked. That's partly because not everyone tags, partly because I didn't maintain the tags in those situations, and partly because it's just a weird system. I'm going to consider some alternatives. Games existed prior to tagging systems and did just fine. It's possible we don't even need one at all.

Character creation/application/limits. Obviously, this is related to the tag system. Alternate Universes, canon universes, canon originals, etc. etc. Things are just too complicated (notice a pattern?) and I'm going to try to think of other ways to do it that will still allow everyone to have their characters. However, I may consider locking the game tone one of each character (with older characters grandfathered in). I'm not sure. That's an extreme, but it's something I'm considering. What I'm trying to do is make the game more accessible and user-friendly, so we'll see.

The format of the game. I'm thinking of instituting monthly prompts that would serve as "choose-your-own-adventure" stories. For example, if out of three options, the majority of the characters chose to write about going to Mars, the next month worth of plots would feature Martian things happening. This is JUST AN IDEA in its very early stages. It would incorporate more writing into the community, but naturally all prompts would be answered from within the RS verse. It would also help move the plot forward on a monthly basis, keeping things fresh.

So those are the big things. As always I appreciate any thoughts, comments, questions, and constructive criticism.

And to get things started, AS OF DECEMBER 1ST, THE TARDISES ARE ONE AGAIN FULLY OPERATIONAL. Why? Dunno! It's a mystery! (Okay, I do know, but...) The Time Lords will start to notice that time traveling is possible again. Enjoy!

Hello!

I have a proposition. Basically, Ten and Sarah are in this sort of "fight" about the fact that Ten forgot to get cream, and since Sarah's just totally owned him in every possible way (It's, um...in this thread) Ten now wants to run away.

In discussing this particular development, Jenny and I had the following conversation:

[17:02] Nelly: Um, yeah, here's my epically-stupid-not-quite-
fully-formed idea
[17:02] Nelly: Which is really more of a notion than a full-fledged idea
[17:02] Enelya Sol [Jenny]: uh huh
[17:03] Nelly: I was kind of thinking maybe it might be funny if they interacted with other people during this whole thing, like he runs off, she asks where he is, he tries to explain to other people why he's hiding, while simultaneously trying to dodge him
[17:03] Nelly: I mean her
[17:03] Enelya Sol: ahahahahaha
[17:03] Enelya Sol: oh man
[17:03] Enelya Sol: that could be hysterical
[17:03] Nelly: I mean, I have no idea how it would work, how we would do it, or even if it would work...
[17:04] Enelya Sol: i think maybe then it should lead into a new post that would be set up after an ooc note asking for volunteers?
[17:04] Enelya Sol: so it would work, i think, with ten running to say alt!ten's tardis and a tag or two with him and then sarah coming along on the chase and trying to find him?
[17:04] Enelya Sol: or soemthing like that?
[17:05] Nelly: Yeah, that would work
[17:05] Nelly: That would be really cool

So this is my plea for volunteers. Anyone want to hide Ten? Help Sarah look for him? Or, perhaps you just want to generally interact with them in the middle of this massive chase scene. That works too!

Thanks!

The library where I work is being moved to temporary quarters over the next fortnight in preparation for a renovation. Because of this I have the option to arrive early and leave early, which I have been taking advantage of to run errands. Between the rather exhausting job of packing (we have movers for the books and furniture, but there's lots of other stuff to be sorted and boxed) and trekking back and forth between buildings (up the hill, down the hill, etc., etc.) and the early hours, it's unlikely that I'll be around much for the next two weeks (and the weekend at the far end will be spent in Canada playing with Harry Sullivan!mun).

*hugs everyone and makes plans to catch up on prompts on the weekend*

AWOL
I probably should have posted this sooner.

Since various countries change their clocks around this time of year I thought it was a good time for a chat reminder (relativechat in AIM).

Official chat is at 10pm GMT every night. Which means that if you change the clocks it's going to change what time that is for you. Don't just work out what your current time difference is from Britain because we change the clocks on a different date and aren't currently on GMT anyway.

There's all sorts of time zone information on this site, which you can use to work out what time is 10pm GMT where you are on any date.

In case anyone hadn't noticed, it is now late August. That means that art fair season is about to start up, and that means my life is going to get a bit chaotic. Normally I'm on for hours and hours and hours every day.

Now - by which I mostly mean the weekend of September 6 through to the last weekend of November - that's going to change. Almost every weekend I will be attending various art fairs and shows, and unavailable at least during the day, sometimes at night. During the week, my hours will hopefully remain somewhat normal, but probably won't. Even if I'm online, I might be too exhausted or busy to actually tag or post. I'm going to try to keep up, but it's already starting to take a toll (sorry to everyone I'm late tagging).

This is my job, it is my only job, and I'm in charge of every detail; taking photos, printing, matting, pricing, driving, setting up, selling all day (usually outdoors), tearing down, driving home, doing it all again the next week. Keep in mind, if you will, that I am my only employee. Please be patient, and I'll keep up as best I can. And come December, it'll be back to normal! Until the spring season starts up.

On that note, I'd like to add that if I am online, I'll be on AIM, and feel free to contact me (hawkyelf). I may not be able to play at that precise moment, but I'll be able to tell you when I will be. If you don't have AIM, feel free to send me a message through LJ. I'd say email me, but my email isn't precisely reliable. And feel free to poke me and/or club me over the head if I'm not being active enough.

P.S. I play goodathart too.
